Anyone know the name of the killer meteor crater that was found under ice in the Antarctica?
ZORRO asked:
Its 300 miles wide and was hidden under 1 mile of ice beneath the East Antarctica Ice Sheer. It dates back t about 250 million years before the dinosaurs. The impact was the biggest mass extinction in earth’s history killing off almost all animal life on earth. If I knew the exact period in earth’s past, before the impact I could obtain more information. Anyone know?

Well, I know there was a huge crater found on the Yucatan Peninsula named like “chixculub crater” or something like that. As far as Antarctica I have no idea, sorry.
Edit:
Actually I just came across this article on Yahoo! News. It was like the Wilkes Landing or whatever. Read the link I have under the sources.
In the article I just read, it is referred to as the Wilkes Land Crater, oddly enough because it is located in the Wilkes Land region of eastern Antarctica. They believe it was the cause of the Permian extinction and may have caused Australia to break away from Antarctica.
