I’m still waiting to hear from PETA on the subject, I can just imagine them, Pigs are delicate animals, they shouldn’t be wearing lipstick, now we have to take all the little piggies to counseling because there feeling have been hurt and emotional distress for the pig’s… because pigs are human too.. With everything that is going on in the world, ie. WW III looming with Russia, nuclear Iran, N. Korea’s leader incapacitated, you are worried about moose being hunted with your extrapolation that the moose species will go extinct because Palin hunted moose.
Don’t forget she was also opposed to including Polar Bears on the endangered species list.

? - You live in a big city don’t you? There are plenty of moose. In Alaska they are a nuisance. Check youtube for videos of moose in people’s backyards. Does that look endangered to you?

Mary Beth Sweetland, Vice President of PETA, and a diabetic takes daily doses of insulin. She admits her medicine “still contains some animal products.” but goes on to say that ” I don’t see myself as a hypocrite. I need my life to fight for the rights of animals.”
So she condones destroying labs that develop the very medicines that save her life.
PETA also euthanizes 2/3 of the animals it “rescues”. That’s right, PETA kills the animals it “rescues” to prevent them from being killed….
I could go on, but there’s way to much stuff to cover, and frankly, I could care less about PETA.

first off, everything is headed for extinction eventually, mooses are not first in line. secondly, i don’t think any president or vice president is going to inspire a huge spike of interest in moose-hunting nationwide so we’ll deal. she’s not the only moose-hunter, pick on someone else.

Moose are not heading for extinction. At least not in Alaska. They are so abundant that you could see one anywhere.
I have heard of them being endangered in certain areas of the world, but Alaska doesn’t have the issue. In fact the real danger to the moose in Alaska is overpopulation. Hunters are actually beneficial to the moose population as a whole.
She also wanted the polar bear and beluga whale off the endangered list so she could drill more in Alaska.
Not only did she hunt moose, she killed wolves.

Palin is definitely a bad choice for animal rights. A moose is a big animal and in the open area of Alaska - any idiot with the proper gun can shot it. This is terrible. Are they trying to make her into a hero? I don’t get it. I just love the way her husband follows her around. He is going to get tired of that. Is he going to leave his job in Alaska? Where are the children? Do you just take them out of school and move them to Washington - a far cry from living in Alaska? A lot of unanswered questions. I, for one, will vote for Barack Obama. I do not want another George Bush in the White house.

The idea of issuing licenses for moose/caribou/deer is that you can control how many are killed each year. Thinning the herds prevents overpopulation and makes it easier for the animals surviving hunting season to survive the winter.
Keep in mind that many predators, such as wolves and mountain lions, aren’t compatible living near civilization so some other means has to be taken to manage the population.
I love my hunter brother in law’s shirt. It says he is a member of Peta, too..people for the eating of tasty animals. Just HOW do you think frontiersman who founded this country ate? Do you think they were out gathering the water chestnuts, or something? Many hunter outdoor types are more conscious of making sure to only kill what they eat, and to do it quickly, and are more environmentally friendly in other capacities than you think. NO, she is not a bad choice for animal’s rights. Plus, without hunters thinning out herds, many animals would starve because their food supplies would not be adequate. Oh, and from what I have read..that drowning, becoming extinct polar bear thing is a big farce…I don’t buy it. I love animals…but there are animals, and there is wild game. Extremists care more about animals than killing the unborn. That is why most in middle america ridicule you.

no they aren’t going extinct. i used to be like you until i learned a little about wildlife management. the state of alaska has many wildlife biologists who monitor the populations of many species of animals and determine how many can be harvested. and many people can tell you from prison that taking a moose illegally is no small crime- same with deer down here in the lower 48. wildlife management is not an exact science but they are pretty good at it.

As a normal human being I am really offended by PETA members who are against moose hunting. I suppose you would have hunting banned, then the animals would end up over populating their areas. They then would either end up starving to death or dying of disease. Yes, that is much more humane. Besides, moose will not be hunted into extinction. You do realize this is why we have government departments which manage these things. If the numbers of moose were to get low, they would just make hunting them illegal for a few years. In conclusion, Palin would be a good choice if you actually care about animals.
First of all, it’d take a long time for the Moose population to become endangered, unless there was some outbreak of disease that spread quickly through the population. They are listed as “Least Concern”. I’m also not going to go out and hunt Moose just because Palin does. I have better things to do with my life than emulate some politician.
If you really are a PETA activist, you should be more offended by what some of your fellow PETA members have done. I was previously unaware that throwing the helpless dogs and cats that you’ve just bashed in the head in a dumpster constituted “Ethical Treatment”. At least Sarah Palin isn’t going to be tried for killing rescued animals that were in her care.
I’ve done 1,000 times more good in my time as a Veterinary Technician than you could ever hope to. While I was helping animals in need, you were busy breaking the law and whining about being “offended” by the actions of others.

PETA thinks everything living is endangered and it is that’s life. You conservationists had best start working together toward some realistic goals. Ya’ll wiped the Olympic mountain goat to save a plant, reintroduced the timber wolf to an area that hasn’t the food to sustain them. Crashed our timber market with an owl creating the largest cost increase in housing in history. At best your “I can’t eat anything with eyes” save this and that has been short sighted and ineffectual. Stop playing GOD, left alone those plants regrow, mountain goats feed timber wolves and nature runs its course. Ted Nugent makes hunting popular, Palin believes in managed food sources.
I am not a PETA freak but eating meat grosses me out. I just don’t think that because Palin shoots animals I wouldn’t vote for her - I am not voting for her because I don’t think that she is capable of doing a good job. Palin is cute, but that’s about it. Anyone who kills a living creature for fun should be shot dead too. And to the losers claiming that if wild animals can be found in backyards, that means they’re swarming, shouldn’t be allowed to speak. Too many uneducated idiots on the net jacking their mouths off, making no sense. Wild animals usually only approach human inhabited areas when their own habitat is threatened, either by natural causes (fire, landslides, floods, earthquakes), or by deforestation, i.e. the senseless human exploiting of lumber (destruction of forests) for immediate human profit, whatever the long-term consequences. In any case, you only see overpopulation of a given species when humans have extinguished its natural predators, either by thoughtlessly hunting them, or by polluting or destroying their habitat, thus unbalancing natural regulation. Right now, the obvious overpopulating species is the human race. Thank god we have people like PETA and the ecologists to counteract, or at least slow down these fools.
