endangered species

Because evolution is “survival of the fittest” should endangered species be left to die with no human intervention to bring populations back up?Obviously the species is not evolving or adapting to survive, so shouldnt they just be eliminated?

yeah survival of the fittest inside the same specie not between species…. they should not be allowed to die because they are endangered as a consequence of our wrong doing so somehow we need to make it right for them what once we F-up

It’s not a question of should the species be allowed to die. The species almost certainly wouldn’t be dying if it weren’t for humans, so it’s actually a question of should we allow some humans to eliminate the species for all time.

And if you don’t consider the potential loss of the species alone sufficient to justify action, consider that the species may turn out to be valuable to humans, possibly as a source or model for important pharmaceuticals, or of genes that benefit crops or food animals, or merely as a symbol of what little wildness remains in the world. Consider also that the species’ habitat (which must also be protected to protect the species) likely provides several important functions that benefit humans, such as preventing floods, producing oxygen, filtering water, maintaining topsoil, producing sustainable natural products, and providing important recreational activities.
