What will happen when every human is gone?

animal extinction
Coma White (jsts22) asked:

there’s a certainty that death and annihilation awaits the Earth in general. It’s a certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Is there any type of point to life and the universe? Or are we just animals living with no purpose other than reproducing and repeating the same thing until we are all gone.

maybe there are others beings on the planets right now but we just don’t have the ability to see it.

when everyone is gone, the earth will return to harmony and hopefully beable to heal itself. or itll be like Planet of the Apes. I hope for the latter.

    F*ck all.
the universe will be as though we never existed, apart from some very retro looking satalites and other bits of space debris,
and all that man has worked for will be forgotten.
    all a bit pointless isn’t it…
but its ok, just get wankered and you wont feel a thing.

I’m glad you consider yourself a prophet, but most of us don’t thing about the end, we try to make something of the limited time we have. stop reading al gore nonsense and enjoy the time you have. and yes, we are just another animal, nothing better that that.

The time in the far future when the sun goes supernova…..is so far off, that we will probably have colonized other worlds by then.

Dont worry. Nobody will be there for listening to this answer when that happens. So getting an answer is not important.

Our sun will become a red giant and engulf the earth, but does not have the right mass paramaters to go super nova.

I am too tired to get into the rest right now. Good question though.

    Chimps will run the earth

It’s easy to predict the end of the human race, because let’s face it, the only way we’d really know for sure is when we are all dead, so it can’t be proven wrong. Once we die it won’t really matter, hopefully God is waiting for us.

We already made it to moon and other planets in out solar system theres a BIg POSSIBILITY that we can find another planet thats the same as earth for man to destroy..uhm i mean live in..and maybe when that time comes..the earth will be happy to get rid of us in her back!

all of us will be just dust!!

Life has the meaning we each give it individually and collectively. The evolution of the sun, solar system, our galaxy and the universe is beyond the control of mankind.

Incidentally, our sun will never go supernova or even be a nova. The sun simply doesn’t have enough mass for that to occur. It is what is considered a dwarf main sequence star, and it will most likely become a red giant late in its life, then it will blow away it’s outer layers as what is called a planetary nebula, and finally, it will be a white dwarf star.

I will see you in heaven then. From heaven, we will all see what will happen when every human is gone. For now, I don’t think you should worry so much. Just enjoy every moment you have now with your loved ones. =D

If every human is gone? The obvious answer is that nature will prevail and attempt to erase our existence.

The book “The World Without Us” details this very scenario.

If there are no more humans via the sun’s supernovaing(?), then what will happen is everything will continue as normal minus the earth. If there are no more humans because of great catastrophy like Manmade Super Black Plague Virus which kills us all, then apes will begin to talk and use tools. Why not? Good as any other answer.

By that time, I believe a new entity being will arrive on earth, to take over the dominating place as the major living entity on earth for the next 10 to 20 centuries, at least.

Sounds as if they all may think its a fun roller coaster……..but will they handle what is before them well……..we will have to waite to see. I don’t really believe that the universe wants every human gone in the first place………as I do believe that we were put here to have that addition to the universal song…and experience….or dance. I don’t think repeating the same thing is what we were put here to do……..nor do I think that we should be made to repeat ……….as “repetition is hell.” When we are gone the stars will sing I’m just not sure what song……….but I’m sure that it will be a good one…! Your intent may have been to get them to think………….will they? ever?
    Shine on………….!

I will catch the energy from the supernova in my cosmic shoebox and forge it into a sparkly snow globe. When I shake the snow globe it will rain down the future and I will use it to know what the greatest sammich is to make. Everyone will see me eat this awesome sammich and I will be forever known by one name: Rad, Cosmic Titan of the Snow Globe!

Earth exists in more than one dimension as a living/breathing entity. Humans, after death, may incarnate to other forms in different parts of Cosmos. Life goes on perpetually. Our lives have meaning and purpose the ultimate of which is to reunite with the divine universal energy. We all make a difference every day with our actions, feelings and thoughts. Besides our presence here and now is bliss as we live in interesting times. We owe to our selves and Earth to assist the spiritual awakening to take place and help get to the next phase of evolution.

I live with a purpuse…..I live to make others *SMILE* I think I have already done that tonight…….but that is what I feel like I am here to do, it makes me happy to see others smile and know that maybe, just maybe I had something to do with……

    I have a wonderful quote…..
It is not about how bad the storm is — it is about getting out and dancing in the RAIN………..
You know if we don’t do things to help others….we are not doing what we are here for……
A smile is the cheapest but most personable gift you can give someone…and they are contagious……
I know this is not really what you were looking for in this answer…but HEY…..

Questions such as yours make the mistake of elevating metaphysical questions of curiosity into metaphysical mountains. Yes, certain annihilation awaits the Earth–someday, a long time from now according to physics. Yes, other things could kill us long before that.
But we, Man, Homo, have been through many glacial periods which killed millions, droughts which killed millions, bubonic plague, the explosion of Krakatoa which killed millions around the world by preventing the growth of food for a year, and yet Homo continues to evolve, first from Homo habilis, into Homo sapiens, and–since Homo sapiens died tens of thousands of years ago–finally into what we are today: Homo sapiens sapiens, the only living cousin of Homo sapiens.
If something happens, the survivors will become Homo “something else.”
The day that will kill every Homo in existence is not metaphysically at the top of the list of even the most skeptical physicist.
